The Rules of 3’s

The term “Hat Trick” and the phrase “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” have something in common…The Rules of Three. Episode 46 takes you into the world of Rules of Three, in which Clint and Robyn speak on how they integrate it into their business. Have you ever wondered why things happen in the three’s, whether good or bad?

The definition of The Rules of Three by google is “It states that any ideas, thoughts, events, characters, or sentences presented in threes are more effective and memorable. Hence, it is called the Rule of Three. A Latin saying, ‘Omne trium perfectum,’ means ‘everything that comes in threes is perfect. The ancient Romans valued the Rule of Three.”

The Rules of Threes is everywhere, from movies, fairy tales, memorable slogans (I’m Loving It. Just Do It), sports (hat tricks), phrases (sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll), and the list goes on and on.

A business runs better with three people operating it, making you more efficient. Likewise, communication is best done by laying it out with a list of three things that need completion. This format has proven to have higher success rates. Even Steve Jobs used The Rules of Three in his presentation in 2007 with the “Three revolutionary products – a new iPod, a phone, and an internet communication device. During the presentation, he repeated the three items slowly till everyone understood what he was talking about.”
